Barb's Date Loaf


1/2 cup (3oz) dates

1 cup (5oz) sultanas

1 tsp b soda

1 cup (4 fl oz) water, boiling

1 oz butter

3/4 cup (6 oz) sugar (I use less)

salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

2 cups (8oz) wholemeal flour

 
Method

Pour water over fruit and soda. Add sugar and butter and stir until melted. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Bake slowly for 55-60 mins @ 160C. (or less if using small tins). Serve cold sliced and spread with butter..
